Dog and the Moon

by Raina Rose

The House of Songs afforded me the opportunity to take a day and write out at beautiful Firefly Sound Studios in Fischer Texas. Firefly is a state of the art recording facility. I wrote this song and recorded it in one day. It was an honor to work with both organizations.

Dog and the moon
Ghost in the room
Shimmers in the kitchen light
til He's gone
Dog and the moon
Howl against the nothing baby
Don't where he is Tonight
running on the lawn

When you go
You take a piece of me with you baby
And that black hole
And that black hole
Will fill will fill itself
With anything baby
Drawing through backyard and empty space and time

the rains come
And Wash away what
keeps me standing
To fall to fall to fall
End over end and never be earth bound again

Could the Mississippi River
Fill the Grand Canyon
And leave not a trace
That it once loved another land

Dog is howling alongside police sirens
Moon hangs so low
She's ploughing the fields
there is nothing but nothing left
when you leave the room
just dog and the moon
